Established in 2004, Copper Moon Gallery specializes in Indigenous & Cultural arts of the Pacific Northwest Coast and Latin America. We work with artists directly and are passionate about educating our clients about the artists, their artistic processes, cultural territories and history.
The Americas are home to many incredible but lesser known legends and stories that easily rival the famed tales of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome familiar to so many of us. We invite you to not only enjoy browsing through our collection, but to learn new histories that connect these art forms to the landscapes from whence they came.
Proprietress Jennifer Bjarnason began volunteering in the Campbell River Museum in 1991 due to her childhood fascination with indigenous cultural arts. In 2004, she opened Copper Moon Gallery in Coast Hotels Nanaimo. Copper Moon Gallery closed in 2009 and later transitioned to an online gallery.
Today, Jennifer splits her time between the magical highlands of Michoacan Mexico and supernatural British Columbia, Canada. With a passion for all things cultural and handmade, Jennifer collects art, handicrafts and jewellery on her travels through Mexico, and continues to work with artists on the Pacific Northwest Coast.
