Though Corpus Christi is not a National holiday in Mexico, it is an important observation for Mexicans.  Corpus Christi falls on the Thursday following Trinity Sunday.  For this reason, the holiday date changes each year, much like Easter - falling in late May or early June.  Corpus Christi festivities in Michoacan also include an interesting tradition involving men who must climb a pole that is covered in pig fat.  Whoever gets to the top of the pole is able to distribute many gifts that are collected in the basket at the top of the pole.  In this scene, you can see the pole and the basket, with a man climbing.  Around the pole are many people collecting all kinds of gifts.  These are the gifts that were in the basket - including fruits and candies.
