FRANCIS POLLARD

Haida artist Francis Pollard was born in the 1950’s, and comes from the K’oona Kiiguwaay of Tanu.  His family crests are Dogfish and Eagle.  When he was a child, he and his brother Glen Pollard began learning to carve wood and argillite.  Their sister Shirley Longboat is also a proficient argillite carver.

Pollard works mainly with argillite, but has also learned the art of engraving silver.  He is well known for his fine lines, beautiful detail, and motif-shaped pieces.
