SOLOMON SEWARD

Kingcome Inlet artist Solomon Seward was born on March 16, 1970, and is from Musgamagwe Dzawada’enuxw of Gwa’yi (Kingcome Inlet).

Seward first began working as a wood carver, but was soon to delve into working as a jeweler. He works predominantly with silver, but also carves gold and is one of few artists on the coast to engrave brass.

Seward makes stunning bracelets that are cut-out to look like three different pieces, and is known for wrap rings and motif-shaped pendants that appeal to men.

Sewards engraving is deeply gowged and angled in such a way his pieces reflect the light and tricks admirers into thinking they are inlaid with diamonds. Some of his popular designs include sharks, jumping salmons, and bracelets with Octopus fighting with Killer Whale.
